Summer hopes

Good looking forecast for the next two days. The swell is predicted to go to 2-3 metres Friday and hit 4 on Saturday. The tide will be rising from a pretty low low around 6 am and the winds will generally be offshore or sideshore but fairly strong.

Don't get overly excited though. This isn't the first swell to either not appear or to be the wrong direction to get around the cape this summer. Even if it does hit with the recent flatness there is no guarantee that there will be any banks.

Still flat

Another week almost over and still not even the smallest glimmer of a wave. The Naturaliste buoy was a massive 0.6 metres this morning, an very rare occurrence even in the middle of summer.

I have no confidence that there will be much of a turn around in the next few days although Coastalwatch is predicting a little pulse on Monday. Weatherzone is similar and has thrown up an all day onshore and maybe some rain tomorrow.

The only other thing of note in the last week was a report from a fisherman at Hungry Hollow that he caught a salmon (unusual) and then watched a 2 metre shark launch itself onto the reef. He thinks it was a bronze whaler. I'm sure there are always sharks around here so be careful. No weeing in your wetsuit !!!

If it makes you feel better

Its flat everywhere not just here.

Coastalwatch has the dismal news for both Trigg and Marges. Even in Queensland it isn't any better. The Quiksilver Pro is on its fourth consecutive lay day due to the lack of waves and onshore winds.

Hey Huey its not summer anymore, where are the waves ????????

Going mad

Hanging out for something to ride. It's flat and easterly for what feels like the millionth day in a row and there is no change in sight.

Even the Naturaliste buoy isn't helping as it sits below a metre. Sure you could hunt around with everyone else to one of the very small wave spots for a very small wave but the wind would kill it anyway.

I hate summer !

Summer ???????

Flat enough today to be summer. Add in an all day offshore and a bush fire anf only the cold water would have you thinking otherwise.

A little bit of sand has moved and some of the models are showing an increasing swell over the next few days.

Fingers crossed

F for February

and F for flat.

Feb is always the worst summer month for waves but this one is tacked onto a terrible Jan and a below par December, making it worse than ever.

The swell forecasts are abysmal and you can't even escape by heading south because its shocking there as well.

Makes your want to move to America where the Mavericks contest was held last night in 30 to 40 foot surf and the crowd on the beach got smashed by a freak wave ! Take the zeros of those sizes and I'd be happy. In fact just put 0. in front on the swell buoy readings and I'd be frothing.

I hate summer.

Hot, low tide mornings and flat, hot, high tide afternoons.

Summer blows !!!!!!

Flys

Whats worse than going to the beach to find it completely flat ? Having 10 millions flys land on you as soon as you get out of the car.

Today was so bad that every time I clapped my hands in front of my face I killed a fly. Target rich environment. When you mainly breath through your mouth and you have your hands full it is not an nice experience at the moment.

I'm over the heat and the lack of waves. Its December not February so we should at least have a ripple somewhere.

The water was perfectly clear today, tide was nice and the wind a bit southerly but nothing to drastic. Inly thing missing was some kind of wave. The harbour bouy is reading less than 20 centimetres of swell and thats the weekend peak !

I'll even take a dribble wind wave at the moment. One forecast site has a little jump on Tuesday but I won't hold my breath.

Summer is here

Hot and totally flat over the weekend.

Flat this morning with a desperation dribble wind wave late this arvo.

Expect this pattern for a while.

Tomorrow - hot and flat.

Summer is here and its no fun !!!!!!!

Summer's here

Another hot and flat day.

The wind is quite strong from a south-ish direction. It might be worth checking later for something in the onshore or maybe a glass off but I wouldn't be putting money on it.

Almost Summer

The signs of summer, boardies, bikinis and buoys are starting to appear. The beach is nice but windy and a few are trying to ignore the fact the water is still cold.

The surf club have dropped out their swimming buoys for the season and patrols have started.

So has the strong offshores and no swell. The swell predictions are for 3 metres but it must be going out rather than coming in. There is a fair bit if north in the wind and rain forecast for the next few days but not much.
