Big Swell

Big swell hitting at the moment and with some decent conditions. Best spot this afternoon was sidewash with some decent head height plus waves rolling thorough.

Its not often that the harbour buoy is over 1 metre and surfable but today is one of those days. It looks like the swell will hang for a day or so and the conditions should hold as well. If you have the time head down south.

Wet

The rain is nice but a little bit of swell wouldn't go a stray.

Nice light winds for most of today and a few body boarders were out at side wash for the after school bonding session. Just like last week I was trying to will the waves at Juniors to break on the reef but even my desperation couldn't overcome nature.

There is a rumor of a little pulse over the next couple of days but the winds might not be great for it. You'll just have to look for yourselves.

NIce Day

Perfect Spring weather and a decent ground swell. The harbour bouy has been over 0.75 for most of the day and Naturaliste was just under three. Coastalwatch was reporting down south as solid, clean and 4 - 6'+.

Locally the lack of banks was still causing a problem. Sidewash was popular all day with BP and Juniors drawing a little after work crowd. The Bay was touched by the wind and messy. There were even a few lines showing at the Wall and across the Cut. Fraggles had some steamers coming through but the lulls were horrendous.

The wind will have a touch of north in it tomorrow and the swell is heading down. However you still might get some half decent waves, maybe at Capel, Binningup or down south.

Happy ISD

With a building swell and light winds International Surfing Day threw up some good conditions but as usual waves were few and far between.

Sidewash seems to be the place over the last few weekends and drew a decent crowd again today.

Dark

Its getting dark on the horizon so it looks like we might get a shower or two. The swell has dropped out again and the wind is from the north.

The only place that seems to be attracting the desperados is sidewash. Very small, very short but the lid groms seem to be enjoying themselves and thats all that matters.

Bit of swell

There is a bit of swell around with the harbour buoy over 0.5 and Naturaliste over two. There is a forecast for it to keep rising over the weekend with a front passing south of WA.

BP reef has some waves but is packed with mostly groms again. It is okay but not worth battling the crowd for. While I was watching a big single wave set rolled through, cleaned everyone up and rolled off down the beach.

The Bay has its Saturday collection of body boarders getting the odd quick shore dumper between sets. Sidewash also has a little wave for belly riders.

Even More Spring Like Day

The wind is cold and offshore but the air temp. is ok. The conditions are clean and glassy with a good sized swell.

There are people out everywhere but the numbers are pretty low. 95% of the waves are close outs or unrideable but those keen enough to paddle out and getting a worthwhile surf on the remaining 5%.

The biggest waves are probably at the Bay but they are really wedgey and there is a heap of weed. The body board groms that tried earlier have now moved to a more consistent rip bank at BP.

BP reef is looking mean but if you get the right one there is a decent short left. Sidewash has a few body boarders out and I saw a quick pig dog cover up just south of the Surf Club.

Lazy Sunday

Nice conditions with glassy ocean and cold offshores. There is still plenty of swell but surfable waves are a bit hit and miss.

There are plenty of people out up and down the Bunbury coast. The Bay seems to be the pick for lids and they are getting some nice waves and the odd tube.

There were a couple out at the BP Groyne but the waves are really fluky.

BP reef has a collection of mainly groms. The take off is really close in and shallow but there is the odd one worth a bash.

The stretch from Sidewash south is closing out and it seems we need another blow soon to get rid of this weed and mix up the banks again.

Not perfect but if you want to get wet and have nothing else to do you might get one or two.

Where did the swell come from

Pumping this afternoon. There are waves up and down the Bunbury coastline and the wind is offshore. There are plenty of people out enjoying the clear sky and waves.

There's a lot of north in the swell and the waves are a bit zippy but worth the paddle. BP has three or four decent banks but lots of weed. The waves are about chest height on take off.

The four lids at the Bay are sharing left hand barrels and an air end section. One guy got two clean and legit barrel on the one wave.

Sidewash is packed and I saw a mini-mal ride get a quick cover up at the Calm.

Groundhog Day Again Again !!

Slightly colder and slightly flatter. Lots of disappointed groms along Bunbury's beaches.

A handful of lids at sidewash but they aren't getting anything.

I remember the days when you had to go out for hours regardless of whether there was surf or not !
